Hypnosis is best described as an altered state of awareness. It is a trance like state which allows us to speak directly to the unconscious mind, thus by-passing the overly critical conscious part of your brain. The conscious mind is very judgmental and filters a lot of day to day information and feelings we receive and interprets them how its sees best. The unconscious is far more willing to accept and take on board new ideas and suggestions that the conscious mind would simply ignore or distort. As the unconscious mind is the ‘driving force’ of our brains, if you can change the way it thinks it will have a natural knock on effect on the conscious mind.
